Two years ago I wrote that I have started my iTunes aka Apple TV movie collection, Since then my collection has grown and my reliance on streaming services for entertainment has gone down.
In early 2024 when I wrote that piece, I had around 65 Movies and 18 TV shows. In early 2026 that number has gone to 178 Movies and 20 TV shows. I have spent around A$ 900 on the collection and have not paid for 2 streaming services during that time.
As I have learned more about digital movie collecting, I have learned some more tricks. Cheap Charts Wishlist has served me well and has allowed me to not pay more than A$ 5 for most movies. Some of these are a steal when they have been automatically upgraded to 4K.
Then there are bundles, I picked up the Paramount 50 movie bundle for A$ 50 which has allowed me to watch tons of classics. I have also downloaded 15 of those when I am travelling this month which one of the reasons I started doing this in the first place.
I am in no ways advocating that collecting movies digitally is superior to physical media but some people just don’t have the living space to dedicate to Blue-rays.
